Reluctantly, I stretched and got up, leisurely making my way to the bathroom. As I headed downstairs, I nearly stumbled on the stairs due to my lack of attention. I quickly made my way to the kitchen, where my mom was cleaning up and the rest of the family had just finished breakfast. My dad was sitting, reading the newspaper, while my sister Lili was chatting with her friends across from him.
"Good morning, Dad, Lili," I said. My dad looked up from his glasses to see me. "You're up late." "I was up late studying biology last night," I protested. "No one was waiting for you," he replied. "I slept very well. Who woke you up?" Lili looked up from her phone screen and at me. "Weren't you already up?" she teased, and I pouted. Lili laughed.
I wandered around the kitchen, looking for something to eat for breakfast. "What time is your appointment today?" I glanced at the clock - it was 8:45 AM. "9 o'clock," I answered, averting my gaze. Wait, I double-checked the clock - 8:45 AM?! "I'm running late!" I exclaimed. Lili grinned widely. I hurried back to my room.
